More Black-on-White Murder - Malvo and Muhammad Strike Again
As a grim follow-up to JMK's recent post about the Nation of Islam murders of the 1970s, we now know that Lee Boyd Malvo and John Allen Muhammad of Washington DC sniper fame (infamy) struck in Arizona, too. One of the first bloggers I ever read, John-Paul, sizes up their racial and Islamic pathology.
Remember Jerry Taylor.

Unfortunately, it seems that the comments on Islam are not too different from what Islam teaches.
Many Muslims allege that NOI is not Islamic. (They hold some beliefs that Islam emphatically reject.) But it seems that their understanding of Islam's "revolutionary war" or jihad is right on.
And considering NOI's prominence in the black community, this is worrisome indeed.

During my young adult years of left-wing organizing in the black community I met a few members of the NOI. Men only. Most -- the younger ones -- were standoff-ish and annoying. A couple of the older ones were a little more conversational, perhaps less combative with age and who (I liked to believe) appreciated real work from a sincere outsider. But I'm just thinking of a couple of interactions out of many.
The NOI is mostly a crackpot organization that offers virtually nothing useful for living in multi-ethnic American society.
James Baldwin offers an African-American but outsider's perspective on it in his long essay, "The Fire Next Time."
Like you suggest, intersections between (imported) Islam and NOI are to be anticipated and monitored.
