"Let's talk, let's chat, let's start a dialogue...."
-- from Hillary's "I'm In" video
.
First thoughts about her '08 campaign:
* The camera pans right slightly to include the framed photo of Bill and Chelsea; holds; then pans back. Not the sharpest camera work.
* What's with the red-black-white-green color scheme? Americans are accustomed, especially in presidential candidates, to a combination of red-white-blue. I understand: her handlers are trying to do Laura Ashley overlaid upon Maggie Thatcher. But the result is not out of this world. It is out of Africa. Or Palestine.

Obi's Sister also noticed that from these colors Hillary runs:
And she even forgot (?) to include a flag in the background of her “annoucement” video. No flag? What’s up with that? Surely it’s not any anti-American sentiment, is it? Sean Hannity had an interesting comment this afternoon on my drive home.... [He] said the leaves on the trees outside the window in the video didn’t match the current season. It could have been filmed in a studio with a stock window scene.... Or it was filmed in the fall, which would make her an out-and-out liar. In the fall, her positions were very different. But that’s never bothered her before.

Looking at the video with the sound turned off, I'm guessing she went with the black/red outfit in order to project an image of power and sobriety.

Power-red: sure.
Is black sobriety?

Hi Jeremiah,
Just found your blog last week, very well done!
A few more thoughts on this run not related to her appearance-
-She's going right to the people, probably in an attempt to bypass the MSM to some extent while the media is going Obama-crazy.
-I am eager to see if Dick Morris can "swiftboat" her, as he will try to do. I hope he can do it, as he knows where the skeletons are.
-Where exactly in that family photo does Bill's Canadian lady fit in?

Why thank you, Carpe. And welcome!
Quick thoughts:
- Hillary's going to attract a lot of liberal talent - the GOP has to develop and focus its message.
- GOP strategists can't fall back on any self-congratulatory trashing of her. It has to appeal to the 5 or 8 or 10% of the electorate that will be undecided about her.
- Loking forward to Dick Morris's "take" on the Clintons, although to be most persuasive it has to, implicitly, be about honoring the principles it will assert that Hillary is dishonoring.

I question her ability to pull off the soft sell. She simply does not have Bill's likable personality. Once she starts screeching at campaign events she will start to look like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde.
